Alba family - The noble family of Alba is an aristocratic family of Spanish origin who can trace back their ancestry to 1429, when the first “Alba” was made “Lord of the City of Alba de Tormes”. In 1492, it was a member of this family, the second Duke of Alba who sign the capitulation of the city of Granada.
Rule of 1/1000th common ancestry - The Rule of 1/1000th common ancestry is a criterion used to create meaningful family groupings. It was first adopted by Lawrence Kestenbaum to determine which individuals should be included with specific political families on the Political Graveyard website.

The family is still organized through a family association and sees itself as the direct or indirect ancestors of the kings of Norway, Limerick, Dublin, Northumberland and Ulster.
